Privacy & Security

Atua is built to keep your data as local and private as possible.

What Stays On Your Mac

Your conversations, commands, settings, and downloaded speech model stay on your Mac.

Atua does not require an account, and it does not sync your data to an Atua cloud.

Your API Keys

Your API keys are stored in the macOS Keychain.

They are only sent to the provider or service you choose to use.

No Tracking

Atua collects zero usage data.

  • No analytics
  • No telemetry
  • No crash reporting
  • No user accounts
  • No sign-ups

We do not track how you use the app.

What Goes Online

Atua only uses the network when a feature needs it.

The main cases are:

  1. AI requests when you send a message or run a command with an online provider
  2. License checks when you activate or validate your license
  3. Update checks if automatic updates are turned on
  4. Speech model download if you choose to install the speech-to-text model
  5. Optional remote tools if you connect a remote MCP server or use the HTTP request tool

There is no hidden tracking traffic.

If You Want Maximum Privacy

Use Ollama or LM Studio if you want your AI requests to stay local.

You should also avoid remote MCP servers and the HTTP request tool.

Keep in mind that licensing, update checks, and the first speech model download can still use the network unless those steps are already done or turned off.
