Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how DevLab Systems LLC (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in connection with Atua (“the App”), a macOS application.

The short version

Atua does not use analytics, telemetry, or accounts. Most app data stays on your Mac, but the app does send limited data to the services you choose to use, such as AI providers, our licensing service, update infrastructure, remote MCP servers, or the host used to download the speech model.

Information we do NOT collect

  • We do not track your usage or behavior
  • We do not use analytics, cookies, or telemetry
  • We do not require an account or sign-up
  • We do not have access to your conversations, commands, or settings
  • We do not store or have access to your API keys

Data stored on your device

Atua stores all data locally on your Mac. This includes:

  • Conversations - your chat history with AI models
  • Commands - your custom prompts and settings
  • API keys - credentials for your AI providers
  • Settings - your app preferences
  • Speech-to-text model - if downloaded, stored locally for on-device transcription

This data stays on your device unless a feature you use needs to contact an external service, as described below.

Third-party AI providers

When you use Atua to send a message or run a command, your prompt and any context included in that request are sent to the AI provider you have configured.

  • You choose which provider to use
  • You provide your own API key
  • We do not proxy, intercept, or store these requests
  • Each provider has its own privacy policy and data handling practices, so we encourage you to review them

If you use a local model such as Ollama or LM Studio, your AI prompt data can stay local. Other optional features such as licensing, updates, speech model downloads, remote MCP servers, or HTTP tools may still use the network.

Licensing

When you activate, validate, or deactivate a license, Atua connects to our licensing service at license.atua.app.

  • Activation sends your license key, a locally generated device ID, and your Mac’s device name
  • Validation sends your license key and device ID
  • Deactivation sends your license key and device ID

This data is used only to manage your license and device activations.

Update checks

If automatic update checks are enabled, Atua uses Sparkle to check for software updates. You can disable automatic update checks in Settings.

Speech-to-text model download

If you choose to download the on-device speech-to-text model, Atua fetches that model from Hugging Face. After the model is downloaded, transcription runs locally on your Mac.

Optional network tools

If you configure a remote MCP server or use the built-in http_request system tool, Atua will connect to the remote endpoints you specify. These connections happen only when you configure or use those features.

Payments

Atua is sold as a one-time purchase through Polar.sh. Payment processing is handled entirely by Polar.sh. We do not collect or store any payment information, billing details, or credit card numbers. Please refer to Polar.sh’s privacy policy for details on how they handle payment data.

Children’s privacy

Atua is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Since we do not have user accounts or contact information, we cannot notify you directly, so we recommend checking this page from time to time.
